What are our historic resources in the Palisades?

Are you interested in preserving San Pedro’s history? SurveyLA is a program of the Office of Historic Resources, in the Los Angeles Department of City Planning and is the first-ever survey of the historic resources of the City of Los Angeles. The survey will be proceeding community by community over a period of three years, and one of the first neighborhoods surveyed is San Pedro.
Beginning this year, professional architectural historians and planners will be conducting the survey in San Pedro neighborhoods. They will be working to document buildings and other historic elements by examining and photographing them from the public right of way.
In order to be as comprehensive as possible, SurveyLA is reaching out to residents and neighborhood groups in San Pedro to help identify important historic elements in the areas. They are asking residents to share information about historic buildings or important social/cultural resources by going to the SurveyLA.org website and filling out a MyHistoricLA form. Information provided from the community is absolutely essential for the success of SurveyLA and this community input will be used to direct surveyors to important hidden treasures in the neighborhood.
Find out all the details about MyHistoricLA on the MyHistoricLA webpage. Individual historic places or neighborhoods can be submitted in just few minutes on the Historic Resources Identification Form.
